Uniform and Equipage
Hurt’s Alabama Battery:
In order of importance in case the recruit is to acquire them over time. The recruit has 18 months to fully outfit himself.

Cadet or Richmond gray with solid red collar and cuffs, either CSA buttons or “A” artillery buttons |
| Trousers |
Sky blue kersey wool (federal issue trousers) |
| Kepi |
Early (preferred) or late war style with artillery red and brass crossed cannons; period slouch hats also acceptable |
| Shirt |
Any shirt appropriate to the period |
| Footgear |
Either brogans or period boots |
| Canteen |
Any period style canteen (stainless steel highly recommended) |
| Suspenders |
Period correct |
| Belt |
Black belt with CSA or Alabama buckle |
| Firearms |
(Optional): any period correct sidearm or carbine |

Recruit’s Checklist:
- Fill out Hurt’s Battery Recruitment Form.
- Fill out membership form RACW.
- Write check for club membership dues (as needed).
- Write check for Hurt’s Battery Dues ($10.00 – made payable to Ken Janson).
- Send all of the above to Battery Commander.
- Begin acquiring uniform and equipage (see list above).
- Download safety rules and study for safety test.
